The last week has seen Australia suffer its worst natural disaster in history. 75% of Queensland, parts of N.S.W and Victoria, and even towns in Tasmania got washed away with horrible floods. To give you some idea of the landmass we're talking about: Queensland is Australia's second largest state measuring more than 1.72 million square kilometers, 25% of Australia's land mass, which is four times the size of Japan, nearly six times the size of the UK and more than twice the size of Texas in the US.
The death toll stands at 18 for the moment. People are still missing. Many thousands of homes and businesses have been wiped out, left in a muddy ruin.

We know some of these people-Australians make up a huge part of the stocking community-so please support this fundraising effort any way you can!
-Buy some of the exclusive stock packs offered (100% of the funds from them go directly to The Flood Relief Fund [link] -to the people in need)
-Post these details about out fundraising efforts in your journal-feature the exclusive stock packs if you can!

This brings me to the next thing that can help and is my new stock challenge to any stocker who cares to rise to the occasion!
Stockers offer an exclusive stock pack for this great cause!
It doesn't have to be a huge pack of images. If you would like to do more than one that is fantastic!
Preferably a few high resolution images in a .rar format (so they can be easily emailed)
Upload a preview image of what the stock pack contains, send me the link, send the images and their details to [link] and you will be entered into the stock challenge.
I will give 5 points for every stock pack entry and additional points for the top 3 winners.
Winners will be decided with a poll as usual, it isn't based on how much money is raised by your packs (but an additional prize can be awarded for most funds raised-I'll have to talk to `shelldevil about that-if people are interested)
I will also do both journal and news features on all entries and non-exclusive stock from each person entering's stock gallery, and what your stock has been used in.

So it seems like stockers would like a little more time to shoot/upload/link entries for the stormy weather challenge. So as of now the challenge has been extended to October 9th, hopefully that gives everyone a little more time to get your creative juices flowing I'm exited to see what everyone comes up with!

Hello Everyone we have the chance to hold an amazing contest with the group . The theme of this contest will be Lost In A Fairytale.

Rules:

1. Just to make this clear. This is a Photomanipulation Contest, nothing other than photo manipulations will be accepted.

2. You can find a partner in the other group to work with or you can work alone.

-You can change to working with someone or alone at anytime. If you go from working with someone to working alone then you may have to start your piece over since it would not be fair to your partner for one of you to get credit for joint work.

-You can only work with up to two other people.

3. The deviation has to include at least one peice of stock from . The rest can come from anywhere.

4. You MUST link all your stock in the comments section of your deviation, no question.

5. Link your partner in the deviation comments as well.

6. You can create original stock for this, if it belongs in galleries then go ahead and submit it so you can keep rule number three. If it's something like a background then it doesn't have to run through their gallery.

Theme Explanation:
So the whole point of your picture has to be a typical fairytale being warped because the main character gets lost, or falls for the wrong person, or saves themselves. By lost in a fairytale I mean I want the story to get lost, fall off the typical path. If you have any questions or wonder if what you try would fulfill the theme write a comment or send  a note.

Anyone is still  very welcome to offer to help with more prizes, just comment on the 's blog here: [link] . Contests work because the community supports them.


~ is holding a dual contest, both for artists and for stockers.


FOR THE STOCKERS

Starting on 25th July all stockers who are Contributors to the group [and you all know where the "Join" button is if you haven't joined already] can submit up to 3 NEW stock images of men to the Contest Stock folder in the group gallery. You will have until 25th August to get your images in.

After 25th August They will hold a poll for three days in which the community can vote for their favourite of the stock pieces. The winner of this poll will get a feature in the blog and 50 points. In addition to this, ^PirateLotus-Stock and ~MaithiranStock will each choose a favourite stock piece and those images will also be featured here and the stockers receive 25 points.


FOR THE ARTISTS

Starting on 25th July [and yes, that's the same date at the stockers begin submissions – so get your stock in quickly!] all artists who are Members or Contributors to the group have the opportunity to create up to 2 digital or traditional art pieces using one or more of the stock images from the Contest Stock folder. You must mention in your comments that the piece is for this contest, and credit the stock used. Entries can be submitted to the Contest Entries folder in the group favourites. This section of the contest ends on 25th September.

The winners of the contest will be chosen by ~MaithiranStock and ^PirateLotus-Stock. The judges' decision is final. They will take into account both concept and technical skill. Entries will be disqualified if the stock used is not credited or the individual stocker's rules are not followed.


TO SUMMARIZE

STOCKERS can submit up to 3 new images to the Contest Stock folder from 25th July – 25th August.
ARTISTS can create up to 2 digital or traditional art pieces using said stock from 25th July – 25th September, and must submit the images to the Contest Entries folder.

Enter my Challenge! I'm holding a create themed stock challenge the theme is "Library Cats" so your entries can be library/book love related OR of kitties it doesn't have to be a combination of both.
The entries can be anything from cats/kittens in any environment to objects-such as books, benches, library tables, window seats, or even model stock-reading a book, petting a kitty, sitting with books and papers etc anything within the boundaries of "Library/Cats".

You can enter with as many deviations as you want ( Only One may be an old deviation, the other must be new, never before posted deviation);

Your submission can be Digital Artwork or Traditional Artwork (photomanipulation, vector, digital painting, painting, and so on...);

You can use any stock you want.

The Tarot has always intrigued us: everything from the symbolism to the history to the artwork gracing various decks. Now, here's your chance to delve a little deeper into the Tarot yourself, specifically into the Major Arcana.

Enter my Challenge! I'm holding a create themed stock challenge the theme is "Library Cats" so your entries can be library/book love related OR of kitties it doesn't have to be a combination of both.
The entries can be anything from cats/kittens in any environment to objects-such as books, benches, library tables, window seats, or even model stock-reading a book, petting a kitty, sitting with books and papers etc anything within the boundaries of "Library/Cats".

You have until Friday July 2nd 2010 to get your entries up and in You can enter as many times as you like as long as they are new deviations (put up on or after June 10th 2010)
